The vision and mission of the Organisation is:

• to establish and promote the Aapravasi Ghat as a national, regional and international memorial site ;
• to preserve and restore the aesthetic and architectural aspects of the Aapravasi Ghat ;
• to set up a museum at Aapravasi Ghat and create public awareness of the history of the site ;
• to promote social and cultural aspects of the Aapravasi Ghat ;
• to encourage and support projects and publications related to the Indentured Labour system ;
• to establish links with appropriate national regional and international organizations ;and
• to identify and acquire sites, buildings and structures linked with the history of the arrival of immigrants in Mauritius

The Trust's guiding principles include:

• to support activities related to indentured Labour immigration
• to support projects that benefit all Mauritians and in which Mauritians from all walks of life can participate. This includes the conceptualization, planning and execution of projects.
• to restore the links with the past and our origins that have been broken as a result of rapid modernization and to restore pride for our indenture Heritage.
• to carry out projects in a democratic spirit, in a historically accurate way and in full respect of the multi-cultural society in which we live.
• to promote excellence rather than be satisfied with basic minimum or the cheapest alternative
