The Aapravasi Ghat Trust Fund   Latest News

The Aapravasi Ghat Trust Fund was set up in 2001 under the aegis of the Ministry of Arts and Culture of the Republic of Mauritius. The trust has as objective to carry out research on Indenture Immigration and preserve and restore sites related to Indenture Immigration.

The Trust was named after one of the main Indenture related site, the site Aapravasi Ghat.

On July 12, 2006, the Aapravasi Ghat was inscribed on the World Heritage List during the 30th session of UNESCO's World Heritage Committee held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
